Fast Your Symptoms Away
Did you know that fasting is a quick way to super charge your healing, boost your immunity, improve sleep and balance your hormones?
Life is crazy! As we enter the beautiful season of Spring, the hibernation of winter dissipates and the plates we juggle start to increase. Stress piles up, and those blue skies make juggling a little easier, but it’s still a lot. Demands are aplenty from family, work, the social calendar and that’s not to mention endless life admin.
If this is you, then it’s possible that you’re living in an endless cycle of stress. You rely on coffee, snacks or a glass of wine to see you through and it feels more like survival than living. Booking a holiday feels like the only solution, but it’s not!
What if I told you that control of your health lies with you? You could completely eliminate cortisol (the stress hormone) with just a few simple hacks. You could dramatically reduce your fatigue, digestive issues, weight, aches & pains just be mastering fasting.
If you are facing physical or mental health challenges and want to embark on a fasting journey, try joining the fasting foodies community to start with (click here). This is a free group on Telegram of women of all ages and backgrounds who fast and keep each other company and well informed on the journey. It is a safe space for questions and guidance. Nobody wants to cut out food. It is quite simply life’s most abundant pleasure! Despite its name and reputation, fasting isn’t always about taking food out of the equation. It is about supercharging your body’s innate ability to heal so that you can thrive and keep all those proverbial plates juggling, whilst not suffering the hormonal consequences.
When we don’t eat for 12 hours or more, we allow our body to move from its sugar burning system (which it uses when we eat regularly) to its fat burning system (which it relies on in the absence of food). There are many benefits that come with this move, including weight loss, reduced inflammation and improved mental clarity. Fasting will improve symptoms of most physical and mental health challenges, but it can be challenging getting started. The best way to start is to equip yourself with knowledge.
There is SO MUCH more to learn about how your hormones work, how to fast safely along with all the benefits, and how to fast & eat for your cycle. As women, it is essential to fast (and eat) for your cycle and to understand what’s going on inside your body hormonally. As we go through the journey of perimenopause, leading from our fertile years to our menopausal years, this is never truer. Once you hit menopause, fasting becomes less cyclical and can be experimented with more freely. Learn more about the specific cycles of fasting & food at one of Laura’s workshops, on one of her free social media groups, or with 1:1 coaching.
A couple of things you must remember:
You can, and should, drink plenty of water throughout your fast, ideally distilled or filtered.
Please NEVER fast if you are under 18, pregnant or breastfeeding. Other cases where fasting can be challenging and shouldn’t be undertaken without guidance are: if you suffer (or have suffered) from an eating disorder, if you have type 1 diabetes, adrenal fatigue or if you are chronically ill and extremely physically debilitated. In these cases, please discuss fasting with your healthcare provider or find a fasting coach to work with before trying it.
