During periods of psychological distress, life can feel scary and uncertain. Denise aims to reduce this fear and help clients to live a rich and meaningful life.

Denise has worked as a Clinical Psychologist for 14 years both in the NHS and private practice. Denise is passionate about supporting people to overcome difficulties with psychological wellbeing including anxiety (generalised anxiety disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, social anxiety, body dysmorphic disorder, panic disorder), depression and postnatal depression. She also has expertise in supporting those living with and / or adjusting to life with a chronic health condition (including any associated physical or cognitive impairment).

Having previously worked as a lead therapist on published clinical research trials (CBT for the treatment of generalised anxiety disorder in young people, Metacognitive Therapy for the treatment of postnatal depression), Denise is highly skilled in these evidence-based treatment models. She also draws on mindfulness, ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), CFT (Compassion Focussed Therapy) and psychodynamic interpersonal therapy to provide holistic, individually tailored treatment plans.

In addition to this, Denise provides coaching with a psychological perspective to empower individuals who may experience self-doubt, imposter syndrome, struggle to get a work / life balance, or simply feel stuck. Those facing the daunting task of returning to work after maternity leave or other extended leave, battling with career decisions or looking for support navigating life's challenges may find it beneficial to have a coaching space to think, reflect and explore ideas to enhance personal growth.

I am a Sober Living Coach, offering support to people who feel concerned about their relationship with alcohol.

In a society where alcohol use is frequently normalized, and minimised, making changes to your alcohol use can seem unimaginable, - impossible even.

I offer a safe space for you to explore how you got to where you are in your relationship with alcohol, and the support to create the change you desire, whether that’s a life with less, or no alcohol - I have lots of resources to make this possible.

I also work with people who have been in treatment, who want someone to walk with them during the initial stages of recovery and beyond.

This is compassionate, non-judgmental, coaching to help you find freedom from the grip’s alcohol.

I am flexible in approach - this is a very person-centred service, and we start by exploring how you would like to be supported.

There is always goal setting and accountability, with my aim being to help you find freedom from the grips of alcohol, whatever this looks like for you.

I offer one to one sessions, in person at the Dawn Lister Therapy Centre, or online/remote sessions, we can even walk and talk if that feel more comfortable to you.

I also offer other packages based on your requirements, this might like look a weekly one to one, as well as WhatsApp support, or shorter accountability check ins.

Together, we can work out what works best for you.

I recommend a session at least every 1-2 weeks which allows you time to gain self-awareness, based on what we explore in session, as well as to take action, and work on your goals.

My approach is grounded in real-world experience. I have worked in addiction (all substances) for the past 5 years and in mental health for 20 years.  I've supported hundreds of individuals from all walks of life. My area of specialism is alcohol, but this does not mean I cannot support with other substance too.

I look forward to supporting you when the time is right for you.

I’m a certified Transformational Life Coach specialising in relationships and communication and the founder of The Relationship Space. My practice is dedicated to helping individuals, couples, and teams communicate more clearly, connect more deeply, and navigate challenges with confidence.

My work is grounded in the belief that strong relationships are built through understanding, not perfection. Whether I’m working one-to-one, with couples, or leading group coaching and talking circles, my focus is on creating a safe and constructive space where people can explore what’s really happening beneath the surface and begin to shift long-standing patterns of conflict and disconnection.

I combine professional coaching tools with an empathetic, pragmatic approach that helps clients gain clarity and develop the skills to handle communication breakdowns effectively in their personal lives and at work. Many clients come to me at a crossroads, unsure what’s next or how to break the same recurring cycles. Together, we uncover what drives those patterns, strengthen emotional awareness, and build practical strategies for change.

At The Relationship Space, I don’t just talk about relationships. I help people transform the way they experience them. By improving communication and self-understanding, my clients consistently report greater confidence and more authentic connection with themselves and others.
