As therapists at the Dawn Lister Therapy Centre, we are deeply committed to supporting survivors of domestic violence and raising awareness around this important and sensitive issue.
In 2025, Wear Purple Day (also known as #PurpleThursday) — part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) — was observed on Thursday, October 16th, 2025. The national theme for DVAM 2025 was “With Survivors, Always.”
The purpose of this day, and the month-long campaign, is to show solidarity with survivors, honour those whose lives have been lost, and raise awareness about the dynamics of domestic violence. It’s also a time to promote healthy relationships, compassion, and community action.
Although October is drawing to a close, it’s never too late to come together to raise awareness, offer support, and help build a safer, kinder, and more understanding community.
As the leaders of Domestic Violence Awareness Month remind us: Survivors deserve safety.
Survivors deserve support. Survivors deserve solidarity. For #DVAM2025 and beyond, we remain committed to showing up — with survivors, always.
