A bit about me:
Hello, I’m Helen and I’m a psychodynamic psychotherapist registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I work with people of all ages: adults, adolescents, primary school aged children and parents together with their babies or pre-school aged little ones.
My practice is based on the principle that it's OK to admit you're not OK. Seeking help is a courageous thing to do because it so often goes against the grain to admit we're struggling. As a psychotherapist, I can offer you support when you’re finding things difficult.
How I work:
I trained in early relational health and psychodynamic/psychoanalytic psychotherapy at both the Tavistock and Portman and School of Infant Mental Health in London and I provide psychotherapy services with psychodynamic principles at their heart.
Psychodynamic psychotherapy is a talking therapy which aims to help you explore the links between your past experiences and current difficulties with a particular focus on your earliest relationships.
Our first session:
It’s important to find the therapist whose approach suits you, your child or your family and so our first session together is an opportunity to get a sense of whether we would work well together. If you feel that my way of working does suit you, we can agree a regular day and time to meet each week. Each session lasts 50 minutes.
Please note that in work with primary school aged children, I prefer to have at least two sessions with the parent/carer to get a full history before holding any sessions with the child. After this, I would hope to help the child feel gradually relaxed enough to attend sessions alone.
It goes without saying that where there are relationship difficulties between babies, pre-school aged children and their parents, or concerns about the infant/child’s behaviour, the parent and infant would always attend together.

Since the relationship between client and therapist is the foundation of good therapeutic work, I offer prospective clients a free initial session to get to know each other and see if things feel right.
Welcome, are you ready to tell your story? We all have a story that shapes us, and I would be honoured to hear yours.
As a qualified Person-Centred Counsellor, I would like to offer you the safety of sharing your story in a way that helps you heal from within. Without judgement or agenda, I am here to listen, explore and help you remain curious about who you are and what has shaped you.
My core training and subsequent studies in relational therapies allow me to accompany you as you unravel the story of your life and maybe even start to write some new chapters. I know, from my own lived experience, that talking therapy has the unique power to positively alter the direction of your story. How might that look for you?
We all have times in our lives that challenge us, that force us to evaluate who and where we are. Perhaps you’re feeling hopeless or stuck, maybe looking for direction, fulfilment or contentment.
Perhaps you have reached a stage in your life where you know something needs to change but you just aren’t sure what or how. Or maybe there has been a significant event in your life that has prompted you to reach out, a bereavement, loss, rejection or ill health. Maybe you are struggling with some or all your relationships, maybe you just don’t know what the problem is, but you know things aren’t quite right.
Counselling is place for you, just for you. A place to gently and compassionately connect with your truest self and be held in your vulnerability.
Rest assured my priority is you, the client, and if I am not the right fit for you, I will do my best to put you in touch with colleagues that maybe a better fit, judgement free.
If you would like to connect with me, I would be honoured.

I have always been interested in sport, physical activities, health and travelling. I played rugby for SRFC for 20 years and have hiked and backpacked extensively in Britain, South America and the Himalayas.
When I returned from travelling I initially trained in therapeutic massage at the London College of Massage graduating in 2007, then subsequently studied at the British School of Shiatsu-Do receiving my Shiatsu Practitioner Diploma in 2012 after 3 years of training. As with most Eastern disciplines Shiatsu recognises there is no separation between the mind and the body in treatment and diagnosis. The traditional techniques of balancing the energy in the meridians that flow along the body, acupressure and ampuku (Japanese stomach massage) are directly related to treatment of the person as a whole. This integration of mind, body and spirit has subsequently guided all my further training especially that of Shin Tai, which is a development of Shiatsu pioneered by Saul Goodman, alongside the more advanced soft tissue skills I gained in obtaining my STT Diploma with the LSSM.
I am a Senior member of The Shiatsu Society and have been a registered practitioner with the Society since 2013. As a member I am fully insured and adhere to their Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics and registered with the CNHC. I am also a member of the ISRM, on their register of therapists and fully insured for remedial soft tissue techniques.

For over a decade I have been using NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) techniques to change my own life and the lives of others.
I can show you how to create the life you want, remove limiting beliefs, release old trauma and break habits that do not serve you.
Among the many modalities that NLP offers, I frequently use Timeline Therapy which aims to alter your perception of past events that may have been negative or traumatic. Looking at these memories with your current perspective, I can guide you to give your younger self the wisdom that you have today and free yourself from trapped emotions.
Is there something that you would like to achieve; a new job or promotion; improve your relationship, lose weight; make better food choices? I can help you to take back control, gain confidence and have the life you want and deserve.
It is my unwavering belief that joy, abundance and fulfillment is attainable for everyone!

We are delighted to welcome Geraldine Meadows, MBACP: therapist & coach to our centre.
"I believe you can feel better than you do now: that you can know and understand yourself better and feel both lighter and more secure in yourself. I also believe firmly in the power of connection, and communication, to help achieve these goals."
"I work in an integrative way, blending elements of person centred, existential and psychodynamic theory, working in a creative way to suit your needs.
Person-centred: an approach which considers you the expert in your own life and in which you are met with a set of core conditions such as empathy, congruence and positive regard.
Existential: a philosophical approach which focuses on the human condition as a whole, dealing with challenges associated with living such as relationships, freedom
Psychodynamic: this type of work aims to shine a light on the unconscious - to build awareness of what's happening as a deeper level within, helping people to know and understand themselves more fully and building awareness to bring about change.
My training also includes a qualification in coaching - I want know what you want out of life and to work with you to discover how to get there.
Starting therapy takes courage. It takes effort and belief that you can feel better than you do now. I've been there and know how much it takes. From day one, the rewards can be rich - you can feel lighter, brighter and better understood. The process of therapy can be a really fun adventure. I experience a lot of laughter and moments of mirth with clients. It’s a journey of learning and discovery. I am here to join you on the journey -- please get in touch to take the first step."
