I have over 10 years of post-qualification experience of working as a Chartered Clinical Psychologist in the National Health Service as well as independent and third sector organisations across London and Essex. I have worked in community and hospital settings with clients of all ages and abilities, from young children and their parents, to older adults.
My main areas of expertise include working therapeutically with clients who experience anxiety (and may have received a range of associated diagnoses), low mood and depression (and other mood difficulties, including postnatal experiences), as well as adjusting to life with dementia and a chronic health condition.
During the past few years I have been particularly focussing on developing expertise in provision of psychological therapies for clients who have experienced psychological trauma (including complex traumas) either recently or in a more distant past, as well as preventative psychological work with clients and communities affected by various disadvantages. I have also provided supervision and consultation services across various settings. In addition to working with clients, I regularly contribute to teaching, training, supervision, research, recruitment and course design on Clinical Psychology doctoral training courses, including the University of East London (UEL), University of Essex and University of Hertfordshire.
I value the opportunity of working with diverse groups of people. Supporting my clients in creation of a unique understanding of the nature of their experience, working towards their carefully chosen goals and witnessing changes which clients are able introduce to their lives as a result of our therapeutic work are some of the most rewarding aspects of my career. I draw on number of psychological approaches, considering my clients’ individual circumstances, needs and preferences as well as cutting-edge insights from research. I am keen on offering a client-centred approach, which means I use a number of psychological models to ensure the therapy suits the person
The main models I am influenced by are Systemic approaches to therapy, including Narrative and Solution Focused therapies, as well as the Third Wave of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, particularly Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Mindfulness-based approaches. I regularly seek to update my skills and knowledge through training and my own supervision.
